Dr. Gabriel Roybal, DDS is in the top 3% of cosmetic dentists nationwide, according to ADA published reports. Although the door bears his name alone, he knows his success is a group effort, and two ladies, in particular help him provide the advanced oral health care!
Visible Support: Sharon McFarlane, RDH
Dentists rely on a team of dental hygienists to help them prepare patients for and assist with various dental procedures. At Gabriel Roybal, DDS, Sharon McFarlane, RDH leads the team of dental hygienists and provides so much more than “just” teeth cleaning.
Sharon has been a registered dental hygienist for over 26 years and has earned her laser certificate from the Academy of Laser Dentistry after completing her Academy of General Dentistry-approved coursework. While her titles and job responsibilities continue to expand, she is currently the primary clinician and patient treatment coordinator at Dr. Roybal’s dental medical state of the art facility Oral Hygiene Plus+. In this role, every day is a busy day for Sharon.
Starting at 7:30 am, Sharon reviews patient charts, schedules the rooms for patient treatments and begins seeing patients at 8:30 am. Her advanced training allows her to administer anesthesia and provide advanced periodontal care, including diode laser therapy. Throughout the day she also consults and educates patients about their oral health care and may coordinate with other dental and medical professionals (e.g. orthodontists, periodontists and medical doctors) to plan and administer complicated treatment plans. Of course, throughout the day Sharon also charts all care received.
Sharon has also served the larger dental professional community. She is a former Public Chair of the New Mexico Dental Hygienists’ Association (2008), during which time she coordinated the Ageless Smiles Event, a volunteer effort to educate nursing home staff about dental care for the elderly and deliver basic care to nursing home residents. Sharon also volunteered for the New Mexico Mission of Mercy Expo, which provides no-cost dental services to individuals who cannot otherwise afford dental care.
Behind the Scenes: Teresa Roybal
As the wife of Dr. Roybal, Teresa provides much more than moral support. She’s the key business ally who through her company Elan Creative Group LLC, keeps the print ads and marketing campaigns running, the staff well trained and the social media world buzzing about the services of Dr. Gabriel Roybal, DDS.
Teresa has quite an impressive resume filled with successful business ventures. A native New Yorker, Teresa first began her sales and business career in the jewelry industry. From top salesperson, appraiser and marketing assistant in one firm, Teresa went on to build two successful multi-million dollar jewelry firms of her own from the ground up.
In 2000, Teresa transplanted herself in the Land of Enchantment but didn’t leave her East Coast drive behind. Since relocating to Santa Fe, Teresa has undertaken the design and development of St. Michael’s Professional Center, an ergonomic, multi-million dollar medical/dental/aesthetic facility, current home of Dr. Gabriel Roybal, DDS and Oral Hygiene Plus+.
As the business and marketing manager for Dr. Roybal’s practices, Teresa is responsible for the many operational concerns:
- Providing the facility and equipment
- Repair and maintenance
- Admin and management staff training
- Business Consulting and Analysis
- Management and oversight of front office reception, clerical and bookkeeping staff
- Contracted services
- Web and print advertising campaigns and promotional events
Teresa is also co-founder of the Northside Dental Clinic, which provides quality dental care at significantly reduced (or no) cost and was the proud recipient of the prestigious Allen Stamm Humanitarian of the Year award along with her husband Dr. Roybal.
Recognizing All Women of Achievement
Sharon and Teresa are just two of the amazing women who help Dr. Roybal provide quality cosmetic dental and oral health care. And while they seem to don Super Woman capes to accomplish their daily tasks, even they don’t work alone. Dr. Roybal’s success is a team effort of more than 20 staff members, and we’d like to take this opportunity during National Women of Achievement Month to recognize and thank them all!
Anna Marie Barela
And two lucky men that make life so much better for all those gals–Gilbert Salvidrez (head of maintenance) with Geraldine Garcia’s help and Mike Walsh, IT and equipment specialist!
